The Secret Dining Society Debuts in Williamsburg in October

Richmond, Va. – On Friday, October 27, 2017, Underground Kitchen ( comes to New York City, with its first pop up dining event in Williamsburg! The celebrated, Richmond, Va.-based pop up dining society is known for hosting high-style, multi-course dinners in secret locations with world-renowned and up-and-coming chefs across the Mid-Atlantic. Underground Kitchen was co-founded three years ago by international design and branding expert and former New York City bon vivant Micheal Sparks. Since then, it has traveled to cities like Washington, D.C., Raleigh, N.C. and Pittsburgh, Pa., bringing with it innovative chefs and culinary experiences in unique and unforgettable locations. Now, Sparks is bringing his roving supper club to the borough of Brooklyn in the fall.

Sparks began his career more than 30 years ago as an assistant designer for high-end eye wear designer Lugene Optical in New York City, and he still has love for his one-time home. “New York City – Williamsburg specifically – shares a similar allure as the Underground Kitchen mystique. It’s artistic, fashionable, and culturally-rich – much like the spirit of the chefs, people, and food that make up UGK.”

Why is Underground Kitchen so secretive? Details are limited to create a heightened aura of suspense. The dinner series releases minimal details – the date, theme, chef and a clue about where the event will be held. THAT’S IT. The exact menu and location are kept under wraps until a few days before the event.

Underground Kitchen has worked with some of the best chefs on the East Coast, including Matthew Tlusty, former executive chef at Julep’s in Richmond, Va., Joy Crump, former “Top Chef” contestant and executive chef at FoodE in Fredericksburg, Va., award-winning New York City chef Giovanna Delli Compagni and chef J. Ponder, an alum of Food Network’s “Chopped” and “Cutthroat Kitchen”.

Here’s how it works: UGK gives members access to a unique, one-night-only, multi-course pop-up dinner in an undisclosed location with a top chef. While tickets are limited, everyone can register to receive the invite to secure a seat. In the initial invite, only a few details are divulged: the dinner date, the theme, the chef, and a clue about the where the event will be held. That’s it. The exact menu and location are kept secret until a few days before the dinner. Tickets are all inclusive (meal, wine + gratuity), and prices vary per event. Tickets are first come, first served, and sales are limited to two tickets per member. Underground Kitchen is also available for corporate and private events.
